Meet Nodething

Transforming Southern Heritage into World-Class Sustainable Craft

Nodething is Thailand’s sole artisanal brand specializing in transforming Palmyra palm waste into contemporary, international-grade craft products. By unlocking the unique potential of Palmyra palm fibers from the Sathing Phra Peninsula, Nodething turns local wisdom into modern luxury fashion—creating Songkhla’s iconic heritage pieces while driving sustainable income for the community.

1. Brand Origin & Multi-Generational Heritage

Centuries-Old Maritime Wisdom: The brand is deeply connected to the Sathing Phra Peninsula—home to one of Thailand’s densest Palmyra palm groves. Historically, local villagers relied on the palm’s exceptionally tough fibers to weave heavy-duty ropes for fishing vessels.

Master Artisan Foundation: In 2011, Sernsiri Noopetch, recognized as a Master Craftsman by the Support Arts and Crafts International Centre of Thailand (SACICT), drew upon this ancestral knowledge to establish the Sathing Phra Palmyra Fiber Handicraft Group, laying the groundwork for Nodething.

Innovation & Community Leadership: Sernsiri collaborated with her husband, Bundit Noopetch, who engineered custom fiber-processing machines to easily comb the palm sheaths, strip the pulp, and extract smooth, standardized strands. Together, they structured the local artisans into specialized departments—weavers, seamstresses, and assemblers—creating a seamless community supply chain.

Next-Generation Design: Today, their son, Peerasak Noopetch, leads the brand forward, infusing contemporary aesthetics and global design trends while honoring the family’s heritage. Under his direction, the brand releases fresh product collections every three months.

2. Material Innovation & Craftsmanship

Nodething’s strength lies in blending raw palm fibers with modern engineering and high-end materials:

Hybrid Weaving Techniques: The resilient palm fibers are hand-woven alongside metallic threads, wire, or fine cotton, creating vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and rich tactile textures.

Composite Craftsmanship: Once woven into sheets, the material is assembled with complementary elements such as Palmyra palm wood frames, premium leather, or durable denim to craft structured bags and lifestyle accessories.

3. Exceptional Material Qualities

Eco-Friendly & Zero-Waste: Uses 100% local raw materials and agricultural waste, promoting circular design.

Unrivaled Durability: Naturally mold-resistant, weather-proof, water-resistant, and impervious to moths or wood-boring insects.

Exceptional Strength: High tensile and impact resistance, retaining its integrity and natural Earth-toned texture for decades.

4. Accolades & Recognition

 Thai Local Wisdom Award

 Songkhla Province Signature Product

 Thailand 5-Star OTOP Award

What makes Bandit's work truly exceptional is his mastery of natural black dyeing combined with his contemporary design sensibility. He is one of the very few artisans in Thailand who works exclusively with palmyra palm fiber, transforming this humble natural material into modern, sophisticated handbags that bridge heritage craft and contemporary fashion.

Each bag is entirely handwoven, making every piece a one-of-a-kind expression of Southern Thai artisanship — rooted in tradition, designed for today.

"We don't just reuse discarded materials; we tell the enduring story of humans and palm trees through thoughtful design built to last."
